While walking to the Charles Addams exhibit on Central Park North, I spied this gorgeous creature. I had never seen a swan up close. They are HUGE! He was so beautiful. But I crept towards him slowly, I’d heard that swans can be mean and bite and chase you!
I kept inching closer. He kept on eye on me to be sure, but he just went about his birdie business. And soon, he tucked his beak into his back feathers, the birdie sleep position.
He trusted that he could relax around me, and as a result, I relaxed too. We just stayed like that within a few feet of each other. And as i left him to his nap, I realized:
That’s the way it is with people too.
When someone offers you their trust, it feels good, and makes you want to trust them in return. And made me think, I can do a better job in offering my trust to others.
